The only difference between the two is fewer games in select CD based consoles on the LITE version. This was done due to the rising costs of hard drives which have more than tripled in price since the initial launch of the RetroPie 3.0

There are still THOUSANDS of CD games on the LITE build between PSX (611), PS2 (271), PSP (473), Dreamcast (393), Gamecube (216), Saturn (581), etc, but those libraries have been limited to about the "top most popular games" per console.

The FULL version has a total of 49,000 games while the LITE version has 45,000.

The FULL version is on a 5tb hard drive while the LITE version is a 2tb hard drive.

I'm sure all the favorites you still want to play will be there!

It is the "Attention to detail" we put into the build!  This is a unique custom "labor of love" home brew build.  It is NOT a copy of any other build you can download for free from a website or store from China. You will not have the same frustrations with games not working, control configurations being confusing, or garbage/duplicate games on this build.  We have gone through great lengths to get everything right and make it work right out of the box!  And in the off chance you find something not working, let us know and we will FIX IT!

Quite simply, because it is THE BEST!  It also runs on more expensive hardware.  The storage alone is a 5tb hard drive for the FULL or a 2tb hard drive for the LITE. There has also been MONTHS of time testing and tweaking involved to make sure every game works correctly.  Yes, we HAVE tested every single game on this build!  This is not like those "cheap pieces of crap" you see other places.  This has actually been curated and tweaked to perfection!  If you want the "highest quality steak" it's going to cost a bit more!

Please note that you are paying for the included hardware along with the work and services that has been put into creating this build, organizing the content, and making it all work.  Months... wait, no... YEARS of work organizing and the attention to detail that has gone in to make sure everything works right out of the box without any headaches or frustrations! For the sake of transparency, all of the game roms included can be found online, for free.  You are not paying for those. You are paying for the hardware and the setup of the build.

Here's the thing - it really comes down to how much you want the full PS2 library. PS2 games take up the most amount of space on the hard drive than any other console, so it had to be paired down the most.  If you are just a casual fan of PS2 and just want the "Greatest Hits" the LITE will be just fine.

We only ship via USPS Priority Mail from the South East USA.  We do not ship via any other service. Shipments usually happen as quickly as possible, however this is a "side project" for me and not a full time business, so at worst case scenario, shipments will happen 7 - 21 business days after the payment is made. You will get a tracking number when we ship. Sorry, but I'm not Amazon Prime and this is just a fun little side thing in my spare time.

To be honest, as long as you can connect some USB cables, and HDMI cable, and are CAREFUL with your electronics (meaning don't leave them on the floor for the dog or children to knock around) you should be just fine. We have tried to make this build as "Plug n Play" as possible, however it is a fragile Linux-based computer and it is NOT A TOY and MUST be treated with as much care as you would treat a computer or laptop.

The PayPal link on this page should allow you to use PayPal along with a variety of other credit cards.  I only accept the options shown above.

A complete game list would be almost impossible because it is over 45,000 games! Unless we have called out a specific console in one of the other FAQ's then assume the consoles included are as complete as they can be, meaning if you go looking for a game, it will be there.  Please do not ask "Is this super common game on the build?" because I guarantee you it will be.

Simply because I do not have access to power supplies in locations I do not live in. You will absolutely need the official power supply from Raspberry Pi.  Other clones or knock offs may not work properly to power both the board AND the external hard drive.

The build is amazing and there are countless amounts of testimonials on the Retro Games Fan FB group. Just go search "RetroPie" there and you will see for yourself. Here is a quick video showing off some of the build:

One wired XBOX 360 Style controller comes with the build for full compatibility. When we ship you the RetroPie, a list of compatible controllers will be in the document with links of where to buy them, and there are a lot of different wired and wireless options! Also we do not stock extra controllers so they are not available from us.

The RetroPie is designed to play on any standard modern 16:9 HDTV via HDMI connection.  It has been tested to work on pretty much all modern TVs.  If you are looking to connect it to an older CRT model or a display that is anything but the common widescreen TV format, then this RetroPie may not be for you.

Yes! Almost all game consoles have some sort of "save/load" system.  That will be explained in the documentation sent along with the RetroPie.

Yes! A keyboard and/or mouse (not included) is highly recommend and sometimes required for some of the computer based systems.

"Cheats" are included for some of the more popular emulators: Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GameGear, NES, Playstation, SegaCD, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Super Nintendo, TurboGrafx, etc.

There are plenty of "Light Gun Games" on the build and they are fully playable with the included controller or a USB mouse or trakball (not included) and while 3rd party light guns like the Sinden Light gun or the Dolphin Bar/WiiMote setup are not officially supported, they can be used if you know how to set them up yourself.

In theory, it could, and many people have done it, but that is not what it was designed for and not something we can support.  You would be on your own for a project like that.

You CAN, however this is not recommended as the build is very customized. You would need to know your way around the RetroPie system, and we cannot be responsible if you make alterations to the build, add your own content, etc.  If you damage the build due to additional modding, you would be responsible for any repairs at your cost.

All hardware is fully tested and working before it leaves our location.  I want to reiterate that this is a fragile Linux-based computer device, and while we have made it as "plug n play" as possible, you should treat it with care as you would any other expensive electronics. If you have a hard drive or SD card that goes bad, we can swap out those item for a fee, but any additional support would be at your own cost.
